A Taste of Italy: Season Finale Concert

Get ready for a special night of music and celebration that will take you on a journey to Italy! The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra presents its season finale concert: A Taste of Italy on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 7:30 pm, inside the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the NIU Music Building. Tickets are available online now and in the concert hall lobby a half hour before the concert begins. This concert is supported in part by JoAnn Smelser.

On the evening’s program:
• The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini
• Giovanna d’Arco by Giuseppe Verdi
• Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi
• Concerto for 2 Violins in A minor, RV 522, Op. 3, No. 8 by Antonio Vivaldi
• Concerto in B minor, RV 580, Op. 3, No.10 by Antonio Vivaldi

 

Featured soloists are NIU violin professors Mathias Tacke, Blaise Magnière, Marie Wang, and KSO concertmaster Ann Montzka Smelser.

At the concert, Linc Smelser will be honored with a City of DeKalb proclamation to commemorate his 20th season as KSO music director. And recipients of the KSO High School Musician Scholarship will be awarded.

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra continues the KSO Instrument Donation Project (KID Project) to help provide local students a chance to discover their passion for music. Donations will be accepted in the concert hall lobby before the concert on May 4. Read more here.
