Lynn Hansen is the personal manager for the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She maintains the roster of regular players and substitutes for every concert throughout the season and serves as the main point of contact for the musicians who perform with the KSO. “One thing I love about this job is that I am able to get to know all the musicians who play for us,” Lynn says. “We have NIU undergrad and graduate students, talented high school students, and very gifted, dedicated community and professional musicians. I enjoy the challenge of finding the right players for every concert.”
Lynn studied at Augustana College and received her degree in Flute Performance from DePaul University. She has played flute and piccolo with the KSO for 15 years, currently focusing on piccolo. Lynn says she feels she has the best seat in the house, “surrounded by the full orchestra sound, playing music I love with friends.” Lynn has served as principal flute of the DeKalb Municipal Band for 27 years and has performed in the orchestra pit for countless musicals at Stagecoach Theatre. When not teaching flute, directing or playing with the Crosswinds Flute Choir, Lynn always takes her flute when she travels to faraway places with her husband. Recently, she had the huge thrill of playing her flute in Antarctica.
