The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce the return of Ann Tucker as president of the KSO. The KSO Board also acknowledges the work of Kenneth Olson, as he concluded his term as KSO president at the end of the last concert season.
The KSO extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ken Olson for his dedicated leadership as president over the past two years. Olson served on the KSO Board from 2019 to 2024. Before his term as KSO president, Olson served from 2019 to 2020 as the KSO Finance Committee chair and from 2021 to 2022 as KSO grants coordinator.
Under his leadership, the KSO continued its rebound back to pre-pandemic audience levels. Olson instituted a new strategic plan for the orchestra, including a new mission and vision. He also helped to grow grant funding, especially for KSO Music Education Outreach, an area of passion for Ken as former Sycamore Music Boosters president.
Olson’s passion for music and commitment to advancing the orchestra’s mission have left a lasting impact on the organization. “His efforts have strengthened the KSO’s presence in the community,” says KSO Music Outreach chair, Deb Loitz, “We are thankful for his support.”
Ann Tucker, who first joined the KSO Board as secretary in 2001, and later served as president from 2008 to 2022, is returning to lead the organization once again. Her previous tenure as president was marked by numerous accomplishments, including the prestigious Illinois Council of Orchestras Award for Board President of the Year in 2019. Throughout her years of service, Tucker’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the orchestra’s growth and impact on the community.
In addition to her dedication to the KSO, Tucker remains active in the local community. She and her husband, James, co-own and operate Sycamore Antiques. As she resumes her role, Tucker is eager to continue fostering the KSO’s mission of building on the strong foundation she has previously helped establish.
