Horn
Gail High is from Sycamore, Illinois, where she began her music studies as a piano student at age six under the instruction of Lisa Feurbach. She continued in music all through school and began learning horn in 2004 with her band director, Scott Mertens. While attending Sycamore High School, she played under conductors Ken Goodman and Ken Tonaki.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education and French Horn Performance from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. She studied horn with Lee Kessinger and was under the direction of James Lambrecht and Daniel Culver. Gail began her teaching career in 2014 as an elementary general music teacher and currently teaches in the DeKalb School District at Littlejohn Elementary School. She has played with the Kishwaukee Concert Band and the Wheaton Municipal Band, is a member of the DeKalb Municipal Band, participates in chamber groups, and has been a regular member of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra since 2015. In addition, Gail is a piano accompanist at many local churches including the Newman Catholic Student Center (DeKalb, IL), St. Mary’s Church (Sycamore, IL), and First Baptist Church (Sycamore, IL).
