Melissa Marberry

Cello

Melissa Marberry is a cellist in the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Genoa, she recently moved back to the area after attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for her Bachelor in Music Education degree. While in Nebraska, she was a member of the UNL Symphony Orchestra, as well as several small chamber ensembles. In 2002, she had the privilege of performing at the Music Educator’s National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, with their symphony orchestra. She was also an active member in the University’s String Project, an after-school organization designed to train undergraduate students in teaching string techniques to public school students. Melissa has judged several solo and ensemble festivals, and has assisted with auditions for the Lincoln Youth Symphony.

In addition to strings, Melissa also has a passion for working with young children’s choirs. She is the director of the children’s choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa, and also assists with other areas of music as needed. She is currently working on her guitar skills to become a better church musician!

Melissa is currently in her first year as Orchestra Director at Hampshire Middle School and High School. She is thrilled to be working with a brand new orchestra, and excited to grow with the program
