Summer Lesson Scholarship Program Returns

The KSO is excited to announce the second year of the KSO Summer Lesson Scholarship Program, a program designed to provide students the opportunity to strengthen their musical skills through summer private lessons. New this year, the KSO offers this program to high school students as well as middle schoolers.

The scholarship is open to DeKalb and Sycamore music students ages 11-18 who will not graduate in 2026 and who are not currently taking private music lessons. A limited number of scholarships in the amount of $125.00 will be awarded to select students to help them receive high-quality summer music instruction at little or no cost. It will be the responsibility of the student’s family to cover the additional cost of summer lessons.

The eligibility criteria, list of approved instructors, and online application (available in English and Spanish) can be found at kishorchestra.org/summer-lessons. The deadline is Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Students and families may contact Deb Loitz, KSO Music Education Outreach Chair, at musicoutreach@kishorchestra.org with any questions or issues regarding the application process.

This scholarship program is made possible by a generous grant from the 100+ Women Who Care in DeKalb/Sycamore Greatest Impact Award.
