JCC Chicago is delighted to bring Violins of Hope to DeKalb County. The collection of 70 string instruments played by Jewish musicians before and during the Holocaust have been painstakingly restored and now travel the world with a message of hope, resistance, resilience, and unity.
The evening will include several instruments from the exhibition played by musicians from the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Northern Illinois University Community School of the Arts Suzuki Strings Program, a performance by members of the Beth Shalom choir, Koleynu, along with stories of the Violins of Hope project and the individual instruments. Several instruments will be on exhibit in the lobby, prior to the concert.
The concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. at First Congregational UCC of DeKalb, located at 615 N. First Street. The concert is free to attend, but advance registration is required, as a limited number of seats are available. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Register to attend here: Violins of Hope
